Former NBA Player Javaris Crittenton Captured by Police in California

Crittenton is wanted in Atlanta on murder charges.

The manhunt for former NBA player Javaris Crittenton is over, after law enforcement arrested him Monday night at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California.

But that is just the first step in a long legal process for the former Washington Wizard. Authorities are trying to figure out whether he should appear in federal court first or be returned to Atlanta to face murder charges, according to the Associated Press.

Crittenton is wanted by police in connection with the murder of a 22-year mother of four, who was gunned down while walking with two other men in Atlanta on Aug. 19. Police believe one of the men, not Julian Jones, was the target.

The shooting was allegedly in retaliation for an April robbery, in which Crittenton was the victim.

Police have been looking for Crittenton for almost a week now. But his attorney Brian Steel had indicated Monday that Crittenton was ready to turn himself in and answer the charges. All indications were that Crittenton was attempting to return on a Delta Airlines flight to Atlanta when he was arrested on Monday.

"He offered to turn himself in," Steel told the AP  earlier Monday. "He's not guilty. We look forward to getting it to the courts."
