Black Excellence!: Kerby Jean-Raymond Of Pyer Moss Wins The 2018 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award

LaLa Anthony slayed her custom Pyer Moss look, too!

Kerby Jean-Rayomond will definitely go down in history as going off for Black culture time and time again. And the fashion industry's biggest names are giving the seasoned designer the credit he deserves as the 2018 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award winner.

In an industry that continues to exclude black voices while capitalizing off of our culture, Pyer Moss stands out from the crowd. Whether it’s his diverse casting or his political statements about the treatment of Black people in America, Kerby Jean-Raymond holds nothing back when it comes to his designs or his shows.

After his ode to Black culture at this year’s New York Fashion Week, it’s no wonder that the Pyer Moss brand has become the talk of the town. Now, the fashion world has put their seal of approval on Kerby’s black magic-filled brand, and we couldn’t be happier!

The designer was even supported by LaLa Anthony, who rocked a colorful, caped catsuit from Pyer Moss’ Spring 2019 line. We love the way Kerby continues to elevate our favorite Black queens with his work!

Emily Adams Bode and Jonathan Cohen took home the runner-up prizes of $150,000 each, while Kerby was awarded $400,000. Yas! Get that money!

Vogue’s Anna Wintour spoke very highly of all the winners, who she believes are using their work to impact society.

“At a time when our world faces so many challenges, I’m impressed by this year’s winners. Their work highlights a high degree of creativity and a deep-rooted commitment to the notion of community. They’re not only a credit to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund as it celebrates its 15th anniversary, but also to the optimism and inclusivity of the very best American fashion.”

In a world were brands seem to use social issues as a marketing tool, Kerby Jean-Raymond’s genuine and honest display of Black power with Pyer Moss is changing the scope of fashion one day at a time. This accolade is not the first award that the designer has been awarded and it certainly will not be the last.
