Sasha Obama Will Reportedly Begin Classes At The University of Michigan Next Week
Sasha Obama is walking to the beat of her own drum when it comes to higher education.
The 44th President’s youngest daughter has reportedly chosen the University of Michigan to complete her undergrad as speculation around campus rises as some students report spotting Sasha on campus this week after first being seen during summer freshman orientation.
“I was walking by pushing a vacuum and she walked out right in front of me,” Zach Lassen, a third-year film student, told The Detroit News. “I said, ‘Excuse me.’ It was a crowded hallway with her and some Secret Service dudes.”
But the University has yet to confirm her enrollment status.
“We cannot confirm the enrollment of any student,” UM spokesman Rick Fitzgerald said. “Classes do not start until next week, and we are weeks away from official enrollment information.”
While Lassen says some students seemed annoyed with the added security, he thinks a former President’s daughter attending his school is “pretty cool.”
To others, Sasha, born Natasha, is just “a normal student,” said an anonymous student, who claimed to have mutual friends with the youngest Obama.
Sasha isn’t going down the Ivy League path both her parents did -- the former POTUS attended Columbia University and the former FLOTUS attended Princeton -- or her older sister, Malia, who is set to begin her third year at Harvard this fall.
According to Page Six, Sasha, first hinted to her attendance at UM she posted an Instagram photo in December of her and two friends on the Ann Arbor campus with the football stadium’s nickname “The Big House” included and the caption, “So proud to say I’m going to college with my sisters!!”
