UPDATE: Six Out Of The Nine Killed In Dayton Shooting Were Black

The suspect’s sister was also among the dead.

UPDATE:

24-year-old Connor Betts, a white man from Bellbrook, Ohio, has been identified as the shooter in the Dayton, Ohio mass shooting that took place early Sunday morning (August 4). New information about the nine people he murdered has also been revealed.

Shockingly, one of the victims was Betts’ own sister, Megan Betts. Additionally, six out of the other eight killed have been described as Black, according to the AP, raising questions as to the killer’s intended targets.

Police say they are continuing to search for a motive and aren’t sure whether the gunman sought to kill his sister or aware she was in the area during the shooting. It is also not yet clear whether this shooting is being labeled a hate crime and no information is available about the shooter’s motives.

Below are the victim’s ages and races, aside from Megan Betts, 22:

Lois L. Oglesby, 27, Black female
Saeed Saleh, 38, Black male
Derrick R. Fudge, 57, Black male
Logan Turner, 30, white male
Nicholas P. Cumer, 25, white male
Thomas J. McNichols, 25, Black male
Beatrice N. Warren-Curtis, 36, Black female
Monica E. Brickhouse, 39, Black female

Connor Betts was shot and killed by police just a minute after his violent rampage began. 27 other people were injured during the attack.

Within 24 hours, between Friday and Saturday, two mass shootings have taken dozens of lives and injured many more.

On Saturday morning (August 3), a white male entered an El Paso, Texas Walmart and opened fire. Local authorities have confirmed that 20 people died with 26 others wounded. They arrested 21-year-old Patrick Crusius of Allen, Texas.

As the dust settles, details about the shooter are coming to the light. El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen confirmed earlier reports that authorities are looking at what appears to be a manifesto the suspect posted on social media shortly before the shooting.

“Right now we have a manifesto from this individual that indicates to some degree a nexus to a potential hate crime,” Allen said. Part of that manifesto was revealed by Twitter user Scott Stedman.

  • During the early morning hours on Sunday, another mass shooting took place in Dayton, Ohio. nine people, including the gunman, have been reported dead while 27 others were injured when a lone suspect fired a “.223 high-capacity” gun for less than a minute before Dayton police killed him

The .223 caliber is used in assault rifles like an AR-15, which has been used in previous mass shootings.

At around 1 a.m., on East Fifth Street in the City’s Oregon District, a man wearing body armor, burst into a popular nightclub and opened fire. "In less than one minute, Dayton first responders neutralized the shooter," Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley said. "I really want to -- think about that minute. The shooter was able to kill nine people and injured 26 in less than a minute. And if we did not have police in the Oregon District and the thousands of people in the Oregon District enjoying their Saturday evening, what we could have had in this city," Whaley said.

"The question has to be raised, why does Dayton have to be the 250th mass shooting this year?"
The Dayton shooter is reportedly another white man in his twenties. He’s been identified as 24-year-old Connor Betts.

The shootings have began the viral hashtag #WhiteNationalistTerrorism in order to put a label on what’s really happening behind the mass shootings, particularly the one in El Paso. See what people had to say below.
