Taraji P. Henson Shares Magnetic Run-Ins with Usher

The "Baby Boy" star dishes on her spontaneous stage appearances during Usher's performances, from a Las Vegas residency to Paris Fashion Week.

Taraji P. Henson is sharing what it’s like to experience Usher’s much-talked-about Las Vegas residency up close and personal.

During a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Henson recounted the stories behind some of her viral moments, including her getting on stage with the Grammy Award-winning entertainer.

The actress  revealed she was there celebrating her 52nd birthday and felt “something was going to happen,” noting, “I know what the camera seats are.”

She continued, “So, I sat in the seat. I was so excited, and he came to the stage [but] wasn’t ready to call me up yet. And he looked over my way, and he was like, ‘I see you, Taraji,’ and I thought that was my cue. And I ran up on the stage.”

The Hollywood veteran playfully attributed her poorly timed entrance to the singer being “a female magnet,” adding, “I don’t know if you know this, but you’re like drawn to him.”

Henson then fast forwards to last month’s Paris Fashion Week, “and he’s performing there.” She continued, “He’s in the audience doing his thing again, and he sees Pharrell. And you know I know Pharrell. So, he gives Pharrell his flowers, and he looks across and goes, ‘Is that Taraji P. Henson?’ And I swear to God, I took off running.”

The actress added, “And it’s something about him. He’s a magnet, but you come in twerking. Promise you! Look at all the footage. It’s not just me!”
