he launch of the #BlackGirlJoyChallenge collaboration with the Grammy award-winning rapper aims to elevate young Black girls and gender-expansive youth in the southern United States.

Megan Thee Stallion's Pete and Thomas Foundation has a new initiative that is all about Black Girl Joy.

A press release by The Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium (Southern Black Girls) announced a special edition of their #BlackGirlJoyChallenge in partnership with Megan Thee Stallion's Pete and Thomas Foundation.

Launched on the "International Day of the Girl Child" and supported by NIKE, this collaboration aims to empower young Black girls and gender-expansive youth in the southern United States, focusing on promoting mental health and wellness through the celebration of joy. The campaign will run from Oct. 11 to Oct. 25, awarding 100 micro-grants in the region to individuals aged 12-24.

“For three years, the Southern Black Girls have instituted the #BlackGirlJoyChallenge as a tool to implement JOY as a mental health and self-care practice. To date, we have given out 700 #BlackGirlJoyChallenge awards to young girls and women who seek to spread JOY in their communities,” the press release states.

The Southern Black Girls executive director, Malikah Berry Rogers, said,

“We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Megan Thee Stallion's Pete and Thomas Foundation. There's a song that says, 'I'm a movement by myself, but we're a force when we're together.' That line is true with this special cycle of the #BlackGirlJoyChallenge because together, we are igniting a movement that celebrates mental health and wellness through the simple, yet powerful, act of spreading JOY.” For Berry, this collaboration symbolizes the collective strength of Southern Black Girls and what they believe will be our most impactful cycle yet.

Last year, the Houston hottie celebrated her 27th birthday by announcing her philanthropic endeavor, The Pete and Thomas Foundation, named after her parents, Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete Jr.

The non-profit is dedicated to supporting women, children, seniors, and underserved communities in Houston and globally and collaborates for the second time with Southern Black Girls.
