Tyler Perry’s ‘A Madea Homecoming’ Is Right On Time, Just Watch And See

The award-winning writer, director and producer spoke with BET.com about his latest Netflix film!

Tyler Perry intends for his newly released Netflix film A Madea Homecoming to be a special treat for those in need of a pick-me-up in the midst of the country’s chaos.

While he decided to retire his beloved character back in 2019, the resurgence of Madea is right on time with a TP-certified spin on hot button issues about the LGBTQ community and how it is received within some Black households. Perry also sheds light on how some modern-day love stories come with age gaps.

"One of the themes of the movie is life is short," he tells BET.com. "Live your life ... and stop worrying about what other people think or feel about you. And also, I wanted people to just see a Black family embracing a gay character. I think it's so important to realize people are people and we have to embrace people for who they are."

After Perry posted a spoof poster of Beyoncé’s Homecoming and Shonda Rhimes’ Bridgerton, the chatter about special guest appearances and plot twists has created quite a buzz!

While he didn’t give any spoilers away, viewers can definitely expect to be rolling on the floor laughing like they always do with Madea.

A Madea Homecoming also stars David Mann, Tamela Mann, Brendan O’Carroll, Jennifer Gibney, Candace Maxwell, Gabrielle Dennis, Geneva Maccarone and Cassi Davis-Patton.

Be sure to stream the two-hour Madea comeback only on Netflix!
