Barbados Has Named Rihanna As It’s Newest Ambassador

Congrats are in order.

Rihanna has done a lot of philanthropic work and brought a lot of needed attention to her native Barbados in hope of making some major strides in stimulating the country.

Now, the superstar singer/songwriter has reportedly been appointed as an ambassador for the Eastern Caribbean island. According to the BBC, Ri Ri was given the position by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and her official title is “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.”

Her role indicates that she “engage and empower her to play a more definitive role as we work to transform Barbados.” More specifically, she’s tasked with the promotion of education, investment, and tourism. Rihanna was reportedly awarded such a prestigious position due to her business acumen, which has resulted in an estimated net worth of $210 million since 2008.

Rihanna has addressed her new role, making a statement that she’s only one of millions that’ll have to do their part in making a better Barbados. “Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility,” she said, in-part.

Can she do anything wrong? Congratulations are certainly in order!
