GloRilla Responds After Her House Gets Robbed and She Faces Charges
GloRilla’s not holding her tongue after being hit with drug charges following a break-in at her Georgia home. The rapper took to Twitter to vent, calling out the priorities of law enforcement after what she claims happened.
“CRAZY‼️ My house got home invaded Saturday while I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA All-Star Game,” she wrote. “And instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis.”
She made it crystal clear: she wasn’t busted, she wasn’t even home, and yet somehow, she’s the one facing charges. “Long story short,” she added, “my house gets home invaded and I’m the only one that gets arrested.” She wrapped the post with a shrug emoji and finished it off with, “So that’s tea.”
Over on Instagram, she kept the same energy with a slick caption ahead of her July 28 birthday: “Anyways, Dey done let da LEOS ina door 😌🦁♌️.”
Now here’s what the police are saying. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a burglary in progress at GloRilla’s house around 1:30 a.m. on July 20. Three suspects reportedly broke in and were in the middle of stealing items when someone inside the home fired at them. No one was injured, and the suspects got away.
While on the scene, deputies claimed they smelled marijuana and called in the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force. After getting a search warrant, officers say they found a “significant amount” of marijuana in her bedroom closet, along with a controlled substance.
The Memphis rapper wasn’t at the house at the time but turned herself in on July 22. She was charged with felony marijuana possession and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. She was released the same day after posting a $22,260 bond.
No suspects have been arrested in connection with the break-in.
