Breaking: R. Kelly Posts Bond, Officially Released From Jail

The singer was charged with multiple counts of sex abuse.

R. Kelly has been released from Chicago's Cook County jail.

The R&B singer reportedly entered a plea, and was granted $1 million bond.

  • ABC Chicago provided details about the singer's release

Per ABC News, Kelly appeared before a judge wearing an orange DOC jumpsuit when he entered a not guilty plea to multiple sex abuse charges.

Bail for the R&B crooner was set at $1 million on Saturday (Feb 23). Reports soon surfaced that the singer had trouble coming up with the money he needed in order to be released.

Despite online rumors, and a Go Fund Me named in his honor, the singer posted bond and was released Monday (Feb. 25) evening.

  • Kelly's lawyer, Steve Greenberg provided an updated about the singer's stay in the Cook County jail

During a chat with ABC News, Greenberg revealed that the singer had been previously held in the hospital area of the jail.

"He's doing as well as can be expected under these circumstances... The jail staff has been great; they got him at the hospital unit, not because he's sick or anything like that, but because that's the most secure place for him to be, and he's certainly hoping to get out of jail," Greenberg explained.

Late last week, R. Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a class 2 felony, involving four alleged victims. According to TMZ, 9 of the 10 counts involve alleged victims ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old.

Kelly, who has denied all claims of sexual assault and misconduct, voluntarily turned himself into police custody on Friday (Feb. 22).
