Keyshia Cole Turns to Gym and Staying Fit to Deal With Divorce

The singer says she wants to be friends first with the next guy she dates.

Keyshia Cole's marriage to Daniel Gibson might be over, but the singer isn't chalking the experience up as a failure. In an interview with WGCI radio, the singer explained how her breakup has taught her what she wants out of a relationship and what she'll look for in a future partner. One thing she's set on achieving is developing a friendship with the person first.

"It's no way of getting around not knowing if somebody is ready or not," she said. "That's the whole thing about friendship. Whoever I end up with, I've been praying that he's my friend first. If you think about being friends, you're not going to go and get them hit up. You’re not going to put them in a situation where you going to get them shot. You ain't gonna put me in a situation where you make another woman think she got something over me. If we friends and you really love me like you say you do, there are certain things you're not going to do out of respect."

Cole also said she's giving herself a little more attention. Not only did she explain how her track "She" is about getting reacquainted with her body and not a lesbian relationship as was rumored, but she also said that she's been working out to help her through the breakup.

"Gym, yeah. Just trying to eat better. I did a fast for about four to five days…just juicing. I actually loved it. I go in the steam room before I work out for about 10 to 15 minutes then go work out for about two to three hours then go pick up my son from school and get back to my motherly duties. Right now, working. Trying to stay focused."
