Marlon Wayans Sets June 2026 Release for 'Scary Movie 6' and Teases Original Wayans Humor
Marlon Wayans shares an update on “Scary Movie 6.”
During an interview with Big Boy, the seasoned comic confirmed the date that the movie will drop into theaters.
“June 12, 2026 – ya’ll will have a big a** comedy and a big summer blockbuster brought to you by The Wayans,” he revealed.
“We’re coming with these jokes. We’re bringing the band back together. We had done the first two and then they took it from us. It felt like you raised these kids and then they go off to become crackheads and prostitutes. You can’t say nothing because somebody else is raising them but then they get older and say, ‘I want to go live with daddy again.’ They are back home to daddy.”
During an interview with People, Marlon promises to have the same “tone” and “fun” like the first two films in the franchise.
"We got the gloves off. We're going R. We're going to have the same fun and the same kind of tone and Wayans flavor that we gave on the first one," he shared.
He continued, saying the sequels he and his family weren’t a part of were “missing that flavor.”
The film was announced at CinemaCon back in 2024.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago,” Marlon, Shawn, and Keenan told Deadline.
“We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion.”
“We are thrilled to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise,” said Jonathan Glickman, the CEO of Miramax.
“The timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen and we’re lucky to have Keenen, Marlon and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.”
