Wanda Sykes to Guest Star on “Drop Dead Diva”
The comedian will play a judge for a sexual discrimination case.
Stand-up comedian and actress Wanda Sykes will guest star for the third season of Lifetime’s hit dramedy show Drop Dead Diva, starring Brooke Elliott.
In the “ripped from the headlines” fifth episode, Sykes will play Judge Yvonne Wright, an eccentric judge who isn’t amused by the antics of Jane Bingum (played by Elliott) in the courtroom.
The episode was inspired by the real-life story of Mississippi high school student Constance McMillen, who was denied access to her prom because of her sexual orientation. Jane brings the case of two lesbians who were banned from attending their prom to Judge Wright. In a unique twist, McMillen will have a cameo role on the episode.
