Judge Eases Young Thug's Atlanta Ban, But There’s a Catch

If his probation goes without violation, the rapper will have restricted Atlanta visitations by October 2027.

While he will not be able to visit his hometown of Atlanta for the holidays, Young Thug has been granted an amended probation following a 10-year ban from Metro Atlanta.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, on Wednesday, December 11, less than one month after Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, pleaded guilty to gang, drugs, and gun charges, Judge Paige Whitaker issued an order allowing the rapper to have particular probation restrictions modified.

As long as there are no violations during the first three years of Young Thug's probation, the order permits him to begin visiting his Atlanta residence on or by October 31, 2027. These non-consecutive visits are restricted to a maximum of four times a year and no more than two weeks at a time. The "Business Is Business" artist must also give his probation officer at least five days' notice before every visit.

Given that he is a notable artist, the court decided that, due to privacy and security concerns, probation officers must keep Young Thug's home address confidential and not share it with the general public or on any websites. Only additional court orders can override this confidentiality while original probationary requirements remain.

Ahead of the holidays, the 33-year-old requested permission to visit or reside in his house just outside the metro Atlanta boundaries in a motion submitted last week. It was noted that his probation officer had no objection to the request.

“Mr. Williams has family in the metro Atlanta area, specifically in the Atlanta, Georgia area and respectfully requests the ability to reside/visit at times, in his home located in the city in the attached, under seal, document so that he can have family gatherings for holidays and other lawful reasons with his family, friends and business associates, which is a home already owned by Mr. Williams,” the document read.
