It’s officially June, which means we are just a few weeks away from culture’s biggest night. The BET Awards 2022 will be hosted by award-winning actor, writer, director, producer, and philanthropist Taraji P. Henson live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 26th at 8 pm ET. However, before we get to what’s sure to be an unforgettable night of hot performances, big wins, and winner’s speeches, check out the dynamic duos in the running for “Best Collaboration” at this year’s ceremony. Which group do you think will take home the bragging rights?
Wizkid Feat. Justin Bieber and Tems — “Essence (Remix)”
Singer and songwriter Tems made her feature breakthrough following her 2020 collaboration with fellow African artist Wizkid. The Nigerian musicians already broke records after the track became the first Nigerian song in history to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global. However, when Wizkid called upon global pop star Justin Bieber for a remix, the decision only further propelled the single’s success.
Baby Keem Feat. Kendrick Lamar — “Family Ties”
“Family Ties” marks the first official collaboration between real-life cousins Hykeem “Baby Keem” Carter and Kendrick Lamar, hence the song title. The veteran rapper garnered praise from critics for his “oddball raps” and “nonsensical flow switches,” which appeared to usher in a new sound for the Pulitzer Prize-winning lyricist.
Doja Cat Feat. SZA — “Kiss Me More”
Doja Cat and SZA teamed up for this breezy pop rap single which ultimately took on a life of its own, garnering widespread success. The song sprawled a TikTok trend and several accolades, including three Grammy Award nominations, one of which the dynamic duo won for “Best Pop Duo / Group Performance,” a first for both acts.

Drake Feat. Future and Young Thug — “Way 2 Sexy”
Canadian rap star Drake enlisted frequent collaborators Future and Young Thug for this upbeat, bass-heavy track from his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy. The accompanying music video found the trio paying homage to various pop culture events and icons.
Bia Feat. Nicki Minaj — “Whole Lotta Money (Remix)”
Following the viral success of Bia’s May 2021 single from her second EP, For Certain, the rising rapper earned a co-sign and verse from veteran emcee Nicki Minaj for the July remix.
According to Rolling Stone, when the Queens native heard ‘Whole Lotta Money,’ she liked it so much that she reached out to the rapper on Instagram, only to discover that Bia had attempted to reach out to her years before.
DJ Khaled Feat. Lil Baby and Lil Durk — “Every Chance I Get”
Who does a good collaboration like none other than record producer and entertainer DJ Khaled who teamed up with two of the hottest rappers in the business, Lil Baby and Lil Durk, for his third single, “Every Chance I Get,” from his 12th studio album Khaled Khaled. The song received a nomination for “Song of Summer” at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.
