Lola Brooke Signs Deal With Arista Records

The “Don’t Play With It” artist's rapid ascent continues.

Lola Brooke has reportedly signed a record deal with Arista Records.

According to a press release, the deal is in collaboration with Team 80 Productions and was announced on Monday (January 9). The deal comes amid the Brooklyn rapper’s quick rise in the hip-hop world, which was primarily brought on by her breakout single “Don’t Play With It”, featuring fellow New Yorker Billy B.

“Lola is the rare talent whose presence matches her message,” Arista Records CEO David Massey said in the release. “Her music is larger-than-life, but her vision is just as powerful. We’re excited to welcome her to the Arista Records family.”

Last month, Lola Brooke spoke with BET.com about her native Big Apple borough, citing that it has everything to do with her musical style and success. “Brooklyn itself is a big thing for me. In Brooklyn, they say that we confident. We love to tell you that we from Brooklyn and we're like really proud Brooklyn natives. So I'm so proud to be from Brooklyn that it’s like I'm just the ordinary Brooklyn girl,” she said at the time. “So I'll put it in my music because that's how I know how to express myself. I'm growing up around older people that’s around and I'll see how they express themselves through they fashion, the way they talk, what they eat. So I just put it into my music and use it as a weapon.”

“Don’t Play With It” recently cracked Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, so the sky’s the limit for her. Last month, Future brought her out during his tour stop at the Barclays Center.
