LeBron James’ loyalty has been the subject of criticism for months, following his move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat. Just as the subject was becoming stale in his professional life, there comes word that members of his family are bringing it up again in a far more personal manner in the new book In Kin to the King: A LeBron James Family History.

Though the book is supposed to be about the roots of the basketball star’s family, the allegations leveled against James are garnering the most attention. Relatives like James’ great-uncle Steven J. Nelson Sr. claim James won’t even sign family members’ birthday cards because he allegedly believes his signature is too valuable. When the book isn’t attacking its main attraction, it does reveal the history of how James’ descendants arrived in Northeast Ohio around 1910.
