Usher Teases What to Expect From Las Vegas Residency
R&B icon Usher recently announced that he will be headlining his own Las Vegas residency next year. In an interview this week, he gave concertgoers a sneak peek of what they can expect.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the Grammy-winning crooner shared that he plans to incorporate everything that has happened in his life and illustrious 20-year career into his shows, from his most iconic music videos to greatest live performances. He promised no stone will be left unturned and he has many plans in store for fans.
“I’m in the process of collecting all of the moments that have happened in my life, be it videos [or] live performances,” he said. “I’m trying to figure out how to recreate those. [People] can look and say, ‘Man, I remember that video or those moves.”
This is the first new residency announced since live shows and concerts were canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Usher’s residency is expected to kick off with its first show on July 16, 2021. He unveiled his latest venture during a Summer Concert Series appearance on Good Morning America. The Las Vegas residency was coupled with news that he is expecting a child with girlfriend, Jenn Goicoechea.
In a separate interview with Rolling Stone, Usher revealed that he’s planning a “fully immersive” show. “Since I was 21 years old, I’ve really anticipated getting to go to Vegas and play the shows the way that they did in the early days,” he said. “The vibe of Las Vegas is everything on steroids — the best clubs, the best shows, the best food, all of it. To finally be able to get this opportunity, to share myself and also to share my history with my audience, I can’t wait for it.”
