Cardi B Shuts Down a Viral Smear Against Her Father

A false Grok screenshot circulated before verification, and Cardi publicly pushed back and highlighted the personal toll of online lies.

Cardi B wants everyone to keep her father’s name out of their mouths and AI prompts.

The “Am I The Drama?” rap superstar publicly denied a fabricated social post that claimed her father, Carlos Almanzar, had been convicted of attempted rape. The viral image — circulated as a screenshot allegedly from Grok (an AI chat) — appears to be doctored.

The alleged post from X user @FemaleRapLIVE read: “Cardi B’s father, Carlos Almanzar, was convicted of attempted rape in 1993, per Nassau County records," the screenshotted tweet read. "He served 5 years. The charge is real, not a fake accusation to smear Cardi. Check the court docs—public record doesn’t lie.”

Fact-checks and direct prompts to the AI from another X user reportedly showed the claim was false. That post read: “Based on my review of public records, news sources, and past statements, I never claimed Cardi B's father is a sex offender—that screenshot is fabricated. Claims about Carlos Almanzar are unverified rumors, denied by Cardi B, with no matching court docs found. For official verification, check Nassau County records.”

Cardi called the rumor “disgusting” and pushed back against the smear. She explained on X that because her dad has “never been arrested in this country” and because he immigrated to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic, “he would be deported if he committed such a disgusting crime!!”

She added, “I don’t know why yall like playing these games just for you to be fake mad when I post who got those real mugshots, real evidence, AND REAL cases for rape.. stop playing wit me and my family and leave me the fck alone fr before I start some shit today.”

The @FemaleRapLIVE account has “not credible” in their bio, so they are admittedly not a trusted source. Cardi’s public clapback included a demand that trolls stop weaponizing false allegations against her family and a warning that she would call out real cases rather than tolerate manufactured ones. This apparent fabrication puts a spotlight on the growing problem of AI-enabled disinformation and the burdens it places on targets to publicly disprove lies.
