Aaron Pierre Prioritizes Serving Teyana Taylor’s Artistry in New Visual Album
Aaron Pierre is all about being of service to his girlfriend, Teyana Taylor.
Recently, Taylor hosted a private screening for her visual album, “Escape Room.” The screening was followed by a Q+A hosted by Lena Waithe, featuring the mother of two, Pierre, Jodie Turner-Smith, and co-creator of the project Coco Gilbert.
When asked about his involvement in the project and portraying a gentleman in the visual album, Pierre shared how he wanted to make sure he was capturing the essence of what Taylor wanted in the film — an honest and nuanced story.
“For me, in regards to this particular project, it was always about serving Teyana,” he began.
“Serving her vision, serving her visionary spirits, her artistry, and her creativity. I’m sure everybody knows this, but I’ve got to say it – Teyana is really one of one,” he said. “People call me Mr. diplomatic sometimes as I’m always trying to find a nice way to say something, but, that’s not even subjective, but objective to whom she is. I was trying to ensure I was doing my best to serve her.”
In a recent interview with Complex, the R&B crooner told the outlet how Pierre handles her very delicately.
“I feel like you gotta handle me like a cup of tea. How would you walk with a cup of tea versus how you would walk with a bottle of water?,” she began to say to the host.
“A cup of tea, you walk slower, you’re more calm, you’re more delicate, and even when you sip it, what happens if you sip the tea too fast? Burn your tongue. I am a cup of tea, and I feel like he handles me as such. He’s very, very gentle. It allows me to feel warm and and to feel safe, and not be in survival mode.”
