Kanye West’s ‘Devil In A New Dress’ Is Taking Fans Down Memory Lane On Twitter
Another decade is coming to a close and folks are already getting nostalgic about the best of the 2010s.
Billboard’s 100 Best Albums of the 2010s was announced on Tuesday (Nov. 19) and Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was unveiled as No.1. Despite Ye’s complicated recent history, Black Twitter agrees with the honorific, and many started recalling their favorite tracks off of the award-winning album that celebrated its 9th birthday today.
“Devil in a New Dress” seems to be what is pulling the heartstrings of Yeezy fans. Billboard makes a profound statement that “MBDTF is the sound of an artist — using the studio as a palette — grappling with his contradictions, unhappiness and the carnal diversions he turns to as an all-too-brief balm for the uncertain soul.”
‘Ye stans took to Twitter and successfully got the record trending. Originally released on September 3, 2010, “Devil in a New Dress” was introduced to the ears of Kanye followers as a part of his GOOD Fridays.
Going on to win a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and CD of the Year for BET’s Hip Hop Awards, MBDTF is looked to be “more relatable now than when it dropped in the bright-eyed Obama era,” according to Billboard.
Atlanta-bred rapper Deante’ Hitchcock, music app Genius and many others offered light-hearted homage to the song. Take a look below.
