Lil Nas X Commemorates One-Year Anniversary Of Coming Out: ‘What Should I Do Next?’

The rapper hilariously trolled his fans in the comments.

Lil Nas X took to Twitter on Tuesday (June 30) to commemorate a special anniversary: the day he came out publicly. In his usual jokestar fashion, there was plenty of trolling for his fans of course.

  • “I have officially been gay for a year wow that was fun what should I do next!?” he jokingly wrote on the social platform. He also retweeted his post from last year where he shared his sexual orientation.

Fans quickly flooded his comments with memes and jokes while some used the moment to inquire about his next album release. Back in September, Lil Nas took a musical hiatus and canceled the rest of his shows for the year. The 21-year-old teased fans he might be dropping something on “Friday” before following up with a second tweet, “is my favorite day of the week.”

  • “Become an interdimensional shapeshifting ball of energy that procedurally engulfs all matter in its path until there is nothing left of the universe. Then you should try an r&b album,” another user commented, to which Lil Nas X responded back, “niceeee this is a top contender love the r&b album part.”

  • One fan brought back a past tweet where Lil Nas promised to drop a video of himself twerking one the one-year anniversary of his Grammy-nominated EP, 7.

  • Lil Nas came out last year in the midst of his infectious smash hit, “Old Town Road” taking over the charts. He enlisted his fans to go back and re-listen to his track, “C7osure (You Like)” from his debut studio project.

“Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure,” he wrote, followed by a rainbow emoji.

In August 2019, Lil Nas opened up to TIME about his decision to come out, saying  “Everything lined up for this moment to take me to this place. Not to sound self-centered, but it feels like I’m chosen, in a way, to do this stuff.”

Later in the interview, he stated, “I never would have done that if I wasn’t in a way pushed by the universe. In June, I’m seeing Pride flags everywhere and seeing couples holding hands–little stuff like that.”
