Angel Reese Seemingly Responds To Robert Griffin III For Claiming He Spoke With Her Family Members
In what should have been a celebratory time for Angel Reese after being selected as the cover star of WNBA NBA 2K26, the Chicago Sky forward had to respond to another social media post from Robert Griffin III.
It all started when RGII took to X (formerly Twitter) to seemingly defend her from racist trolls who posted an image depicting Reese with the head of a chimp on the game cover. He also accused her family of physically threatening him and “threats of sexual violence” against his children.
“There is no place for racism in this world. Whether you like a player or not. Angel Reese should never be called or depicted as a Monkey,” his post read. “I have been quiet on the Angel Reese front because she shared a video that aided in my wife, kids, family, and friends receiving death threats, threats of physical harm to my family and friends, and threats of sexual violence to my children on social media and beyond.”
“That will never be okay with me. I never attacked her or her family when I stated and backed up with clear basketball evidence that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. It’s sports. Everybody won’t like each other,” his post continued.
The former NFL quarterback then went on to mention Reese’s family, claiming they confirmed to him that she hates Indian Fever star Caitlin Clark.
“People in Angel’s inner circle called me and told me I was right and Angel Reese has grown to hate Caitlin Clark because of the media always asking her about Caitlin and being constantly compared to her,” he wrote. “Some people made it about race, but I never did and never will. Instead of becoming the villain in anyone’s story, I decided to just not.
In a post of her own, Reese seemed to take issue with RG3’s tweet.
“Lying on this app when everybody knows the first and last name of everybody in my circle for clout is nastyyyy work,” Reese wrote.
Many sided with Reese and aired their displeasure with RG3’s post.
“Can Angel Reese just sue @RGIII? Like....right now?” one user wrote.
“How you make a post about defending her but made sure to add shade, you can never just fully defend anybody of color,” another user added.
“You are an even bigger loser than I thought. If you wanted to denounce the pic, just do that,” another user wrote. “Instead, you get on here with all that extra BS. You on here contributing to the online hate of this 23-year-old woman, but on Twitter trying to play victim. Get some help.”
This is not the first time that RGIII has been caught in controversy with Reese. In May, RGIII faced backlash for saying Reese hates Clark after their highly anticipated matchup.
Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. It’s staring us all right in the face, but people are afraid to say it. Won’t answer questions about Caitlin Clark. Gets mad when people praise Caitlin Clark for the explosion of popularity around Women’s Basketball,” his post read.
