The BET Hip Hop Awards 2022, hosted by legendary emcee Fat Joe, are underway, and one of the night’s most significant awards has already been given to rising rapper GloRilla. The Memphis, Tennessee native was left speechless after being called this “Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist” winner.

The burgeoning star came up top, beating out several up-and-coming acts, including Baby Keem, Blxst, Doechii, Fivio Foreign, Nardo Wick, and Saucy Santana

GloRilla began singing in the church, but after losing her voice, she pivoted to rap. She would eventually find fame following the release of her breakout single “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” produced by HitKidd. GoRilla reportedly requested a smoke break before creating the track in half an hour. The 23-year-old would later capitalize on the song’s success, scoring a record deal with Yo Gotti under his Collective Music Group record label.

The sizzling track later received a remix with Latto, JT of the City Girls. Since then, she’s collaborated with even more artists like Saweetie and Cardi B, who hoped on the remix to “FNF'' and the sequel “Tomorrow 2.” Congratulations again to GloRilla. Let’s Go!
