‘Green Book’ Screenwriter’s Golden Globes Win Was The Most Controversial Moment Of The Whole Awards Season
Green Book is taking home hardware at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, and it has people scratching their heads.
Ok, Mahershala Ali is a beast and he deserved to win best supporting actor, but the second one? Best Screenplay? Oh, and get this, everyone who actually accepted the award was white.
Brian Hayes Currie, director Peter Farrelly, and Tony Vallelonga's son Nick Vallelonga reached the podium and thanked everyone who helped them win the award. If you didn’t see the movie it depicts a working-class Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of musical venues through the American South in the 1960s.
Many were outraged the other movies in a very contested category deserved to win, particularly If Beale Street Could Talk.
