HBCU Women, Glamour Magazine Wants You To Be Part Of Its College Women Of The Year Honors
Glamour magazine is reaching out to talented women students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities as part of their 60-year tradition of honoring them for their contributions in various professional fields ranging from medicine to technology to the arts, business, media and service.
“As part of our continuing work to honor all kinds of remarkable young women, in 2022 we're turning the spotlight to students enrolled at historically Black colleges and universities across America,” said Glamour in its announcement. “And now it’s your turn. Glamour wants to hear from the next generation of thinkers and leaders because—as we all know—diversity within the education system makes us more productive as a society. And under the crushing weight of the COVID-19 pandemic, HBCUs are among the estimated half of U.S. colleges and universities facing financial crises, including declines in federal funding and rising college tuitions, so we hope our focus on the amazing achievers these institutions produce will encourage and strengthen them and their students.”
As part of their efforts to highlight diversity, women at HBCUs are invited to apply to be honored as a College Woman of the Year – HBCU Edition. Selected honorees will:
• Be spotlighted in Glamour.
• Have the opportunity to be paired with a high-profile mentor.
• Join Glamour in New York City to attend the 2022 Glamour Women of the Year Awards
Honorees will also be able to participate in upcoming Women of the Year Events and be profiled on BET.com. In 2021, Glamour focused on women at community colleges. Here’s their feature on their honorees.
HBCU faculty are also encouraged to nominate candidates they believe are exceptional students and leaders.
The deadline for nominations for the College Women of the Year – HBCU Edition Honors is Tuesday, Sept. 27. Click here to go to the link to the nomination form.
