In case you missed it, the CEO of Off-White and Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton menswear received some serious side-eyes after announcing his donation of $50 towards bailing out protesters, who were demanding justice for the police killing of George Floyd.

“The Miami community, I’m inspired,” Virgil wrote on a screenshotted image of his contribution to Fempower on Sunday (May 31). He added, “For kids in the streets that need bail funds for George Floyd protests.”

Reportedly estimated to be worth more than $4 million, according to The Wealth Record, Virgil found himself having to defend his name after receiving criticism that he could have contributed more.

In a very lengthy Instagram post on Monday, the designer revealed he donated over $20,500 towards the cause—but unfortunately did not provide any new screenshots.

“I can understand your frustration if you think my contribution were limited to $50,” he wrote. “Purely false when it comes to the total. I have donated $20,500 to bail funds and other causes related to this movement.”

He added, “I will continue to donate more and will continue to use my voice to urge my peers to do the same.”
