6 Degrees of Separation: The People Drake and Jennifer Lopez Have In Common

They've got way too much in common.

The chitter-chatter of a Jennifer Lopez and Drake relationship is getting louder and louder with each teasing hint dropped by the 6 God and his rumored lady.

As Hollywood namesakes like Joe Budden and Funkmaster Flex have accompanied the alleged coupledom in the headlines, a few other names have whizzed through the grapevine that might share a common interest in the matter at hand. From all eyes on Diddy’s fists to a purported social media side-eye from Rihanna, both Jennifer Lopez and Drake might not just have many things in common, but many people than even they might realize.

From the highest to the lowest common denominators, here’s six industry elbows that have rubbed both Jenny’s and Drizzy’s.

  1. Rihanna

Between being J. Lo’s sister-in-style and Drake’s girl crush “since he was 22 years old,” Rihanna was among the first that fans set their eyes upon after Jenny and Drizzy’s rumored coupledom. All in one year, a pair of Manolo Blahnik boots and public profession of undying adoration for Rih would be the link that chained Lopez and Drake to the crooning island princess. And since she’s never been a stranger to praise, she proudly accepted her tokens of appreciation from both Drizzy and Jenny. Ultimately, however, in an act of what may or may not have been her reaction to the chatter, three’s definitely not company when it comes to the Bad Gal Riri.

  2. Chris Brown

How could anyone forget the saga that was Drake vs. Chris Brown? With Rihanna’s affections caught between the two stars, a night at NYC’s W.i.P. nightclub turned bloody in 2012 after tensions rose. Since then, the two were both granted second chances with Ri-Ri, claimed to have buried the hatchet in 2014, and have thrown jabs yet again thereafter. For J. Lo, things are a little more simple. Breezy is a common collaborator and friend, whose songwriting chops were tapped for Lopez’s music in 2013 and 2014. Earlier this year, she also included Brown as one of the many friends she texts during an episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden.

  3. Lil Wayne

Of the many collaborations in her industry career stretch, Jenny nudged the Young Money record label founder Lil Wayne for her 2011 love-laced “I’m Into You” track. Coincidence that Drizzy pledges the Young Money flag as one of its most honorary signees and often hailed as Weezy’s Canadian prodigy? Maybe. Maybe not.

Funkmaster Flex made the harrowing discovery that Drake and J. Lo broke the Internet with their cuddling Instagram photo on the anniversary of the shooting that left Lopez’s former relationship with Diddy in shambles. Back in 1999, when he was still widely known as Puff Daddy, the Bad Boy exec was involved in an ordeal at Club New York that would land his artist Shyne in jail, and put him on the outs with his Puerto Rican flame. Who knew, years later in 2014, Drake would be on the receiving end of a club ordeal with Diddy himself (which was apparently over the instrumental for “0 to 100”). These days, the two seem to have patched things up – not without an on-wax jab from Drizzy, of course.

  6. Nicki Minaj

Another gal pal of Jenny from the block’s is none other than Ms. Minaj. In addition to sharing their home turf region of New York, the ladies adorably flicked it up during an event in 2014. Considering her friendship-turned-strictly-labelmate relationship with Drizzy, the Barbz is merely another familiar face for both J. Lo and the 6 God.

  7. Fabolous

Fabolous’ guest verse on Jennifer Lopez’s “Get Right (Remix)” gave her 2005 hit a boost of street appeal. A few years later, Drake would join Fabolous on his “Throw It In The Bag (Remix),” but things would go a bit awry by 2014. In a Rolling Stone interview, Drake threw Fab’s name into a conversation about Kanye West’s “questionable bars” on Yeezus, leading to a falling out between the two. By the end of 2014, however, Fab would deem the drama “water under the bridge” after receiving an apology from Drizzy. Most recently, Drake even sent Fab a pair of his OVO Jordan 10s.
