Sean Kingston Barred From Concert Performance Before Sentencing
A judge shut down the possibility of Sean Kingston performing at a summer festival following his guilty verdict on charges of wire fraud.
Last month, the Jamaican-American R&B and pop singer was found guilty of fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud along with his mother, Janice Turner. As Kingston, real name Kisean Anderson, awaits his sentencing, which could be a maximum of 20 years, the singer requested permission to perform a set at Milwaukee’s Summerfest. According to AllHipHop, the “Me Love” vocalist, who’s been on house arrest since being released on bond, claimed that, along with the performance not being at a nightclub, he would be able to earn income after months of an inability to work due to travel regulations.
Kingston's lawyer also stressed that the artist has cooperated with all bond requirements, including GPS tracking, and that he would provide a complete itinerary. Additionally, he would communicate with his probation officer both before and after the trip. Although reasoning was not given, Judge David Leibowitz rejected the motion.
Last May, Kingston and Turner were arrested during a home raid in Broward County, Florida, after the singer was sued for allegedly failing to pay for luxury items worth an estimated $1 million.
Kingston is scheduled to be sentenced on August 15, 2025.
