Don Lemon Addresses Megyn Kelly In Defense of Joy Reid
Don Lemon defended fellow news personality Joy Reid after scolding comments were made about the cancellation of her show by Megyn Kelly this week.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Reid’s MSNBC evening show “The ReidOut” was canceled as part of the network’s programming overhaul. Shortly thereafter, Kelly ridiculed Reid on X, formerly Twitter. “Remember when Joy Reid laughingly mocked “white women tears” as pathetic and offensive to her?” the pundit asked. “Who’s crying now, Joy? Good riddance to the absolute worst person on television, and shame on NBC for letting it go on this long.”
This didn’t sit well with Lemon, who hopped on his show and took a sip from his Megan Kelly TODAY mug, shading Kelly spending one season on the show. “I usually don’t like to talk about her because she’s one of those people, she thrives on it,” Lemon began in the video below. “She has built the second part of her career on being a troll.”
Lemon then pulled up receipts of Kelly calling out the likes of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle, Caitlin Clark, and others with her alt-right opinions. After airing out more of his grievances for Kelly, at the 21-minute mark, he once again sided with Reid. “So let me just say to Megyn Kelly, in my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color: Go f**k yourself. Okay?” he concluded.
Kelly would respond on her SiriusXM show, claiming that Lemon doesn’t have an audience and calling him a “sad, pathetic little man.”
Following news of “The ReidOut” being canceled, Reid held a Zoom town hall meeting with her show’s staff, thanking them and affirming that the former program had “value.”
