‘Phat Tuesdays’ Docuseries Gets Greenlight And Premiere Date

The Guy Torry-created series tells the story of the famed Phat Tuesdays at LA’s Comedy Story comedy club.

Phat Tuesdays, a docuseries from Guy Torry, has gotten the greenlight by Prime Video and already has a premiere date.

According to Deadline, the series follows the famed Phat Tuesday comedy shows at Los Angeles’ The Comedy Store and is produced by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Reginald Hudlin (The Black Godfather), Amazon Studios, Original Productions, Phat Tuesday Productions, and Kelsey Grammer’s Grammnet Productions.

The three-episode docuseries celebrates Torry’s Phat Tuesdays, an influential comedy showcase that helped launch the careers of some of the most famous Black comedians in the industry.

Anthony Anderson, Tichina Arnold, Nick Cannon, Dave Chappelle, Snoop Dogg, Cedric the Entertainer, Tiffany Haddish, Steve Harvey, Lil Rel Howery, Regina King, Jo Koy, Luenell, Flame Monroe, Jay Pharoah, Craig Robinson, JB Smoove, Chris Tucker, Kym Whitley, and more participated in Phat Tuesdays. Initially an experiment in 1990s Los Angeles, Phat Tuesdays turned into a must-see, hilarious experience, elevating Black voices to have their turn on the stage.

Phat Tuesdays will premiere on Prime Video on Friday, Feb. 4 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
