‘Insecure’ Actress Jaida Benjamin Found Safe After Being Reported Missing
Actress Jaida Benjamin has been found safe after she was reported missing over the weekend.
Benjamin, 27, best known for her roles in Family Reunion and Insecure, was last seen in the Studio City area of Los Angeles on Saturday (Feb. 19). PEOPLE reported, citing Los Angeles Police officials. She was reunited with her family on Tuesday morning (Feb. 22), but there were apparent concerns about her mental health.
"She was located last night [Feb. 22] at 2:30 a.m. We are overjoyed and relieved! The stress has been out of this world,” JoCinda Benjamin, Benjamin’s mother, said in a statement to PEOPLE. “I wouldn't wish this amount of anguish on any parent or loved one. The country needs to do its due diligence to take better care of those battling mental illness. There's too much red tape to go through just to get immediate assistance and support."
Details about Benjamin’s disappearance are unknown at this time. However, on Feb. 2, her mother posted on Instagram that she and her daughter will take a break from the entertainment industry due to “recent tragic news of multiple suicides, combined with our own mental health concerns.”
