Report: Chris Johnson Shot in Drive-by

Former Jets RB suffers bullet wound in shoulder during shooting that left one man dead.

NFL star Chris Johnson was shot in the shoulder during a drive-by shooting Sunday morning just past 4 a.m. at an Orlando intersection and is in stable condition, ESPN is reporting.

The driver of the vehicle, Dreekius Oricko Johnson, wasn't so fortunate. He was killed by the gunfire, the Orange County sheriff's department confirmed with ESPN.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris and everyone impacted by this tragic event," the Jets said in a statement to ESPN.

Another passenger, Reggie Johnson, was shot in the hand, shoulder and leg and is in stable condition as well. No arrests have been made thus far in the shooting, which reportedly occurred while the vehicle was stopped at a red light. It's unclear at this point whether the victims are related.

This disturbing news comes after the former New York Jets and Tennessee Titans running back was arrested this past January for openly carrying a firearm in Orlando. The weapon was placed between the two seats of the vehicle Johnson was driving. He was released on $250 bond.

Johnson, who was released by the Jets last month, is currently a free agent. He'll be shopping for a new team on Tuesday when the NFL free agency period begins.
