Hillary Clinton Can’t Contain Her Laughter At Donald Trump’s ‘Gulf of America’ Idea
Hillary Clinton couldn’t hide her bewilderment at Donald Trump’s proposal to turn the Gulf of Mexico into the ‘Gulf of America.’
During the second-term president’s inauguration on Monday, January 20, in Washington, D.C., during his swearing-in, Trump made the shocking announcement in his address, which Clinton noticeably reacted to.
“America will reclaim its rightful place as the greatest, most powerful, most respected nation on earth, inspiring the awe, admiration of the entire world,” he stated.
Trump continued, “A short time from now, we will be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and we will be restoring the name of a great president, William McKinley, to Mount McKinley, where it should be and where it belongs.”
While other attendees, like former U.S. Vice President and Trump’s presidential opponent Kamala Harris, kept their expressions blank, Clinton struggled to hold in her laughter, prompting her husband, 42nd U.S. President Bill Clinton, to look at her.
Clinton was previously against Trump in the running for the title of 45th U.S. President, and during the 2016 presidential debate, he threatened to imprison Clinton over her private emails scandal. During former president Joe Biden’s short-lived second-term run, Clinton advocated for him, later supporting Harris’ presidential bid.
Trump shared his Gulf of Mexico renaming plans during a Mar-a-Lago press conference earlier this month, where he said the ‘Gulf of America’ title had a “beautiful ring.” “That covers a lot of territory, the Gulf of America,” he said in the video below. “What a beautiful name. And it's appropriate. It's appropriate. And Mexico has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country.”
