In New Book, Kamala Harris Calls Biden Reelection Reckless

In her upcoming memoir, ‘107 Days,’ former Vice President Kamala Harris doesn’t hold back.

After the dust settles…everything becomes crystal clear.

On Wednesday, The Atlantic published an excerpt from “107 Days,” former Vice President Kamala Harris’s new memoir, and it’s causing a stir.

In the excerpt, Harris shares the colossal mistakes she and the Biden team made — and what really went on behind the scenes of Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection bid. At the time, Harris was a dutiful and loyal VP who was rarely, if ever, at odds with her boss. Though it’s now clear that she felt conflicted.

‘“It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.’” We all said that, like a mantra, as if we’d all been hypnotized,” she wrote when sharing the circumstances around Biden’s 2024 bid. “In retrospect, I think it was recklessness. The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego or ambition. It should have been more than a personal decision.”

At 81, Biden was the oldest president in U.S. history, and his age remained a major topic of discussion throughout his presidency. However, it reached a fever pitch after his final debate. Weeks later, he abandoned his bid and backed Harris.

As vice president, Harris’s performance in the Oval Office was heavily scrutinized. In the lengthy excerpt, Harris also shared with readers what she was up against and how her role as the first Black woman Vice President was inherently unique.

"I was the first vice president to have a dedicated press pool tracking my every public move," Harris said. "Before me, vice presidents had what’s called a ‘supplemental pool," as the first lady does, covering important events. Because of this constant attention, things that had never been especially newsworthy about the vice president were suddenly reported and scrutinized."

Kamala Harris’s memoir, “107 Days,” will be available everywhere on September 23.
