Quavo’s Rocket Foundation Launches Therapy Support Fund to Aid Atlanta Shooting Victims

The fund aims to provide trauma-informed care and back community groups already working to interrupt violence in neighborhoods hit hardest.

After a violent weekend in Atlanta that left 49 people shot, Quavo and The Rocket Foundation are moving with purpose. On July 31, the foundation announced the launch of its Therapy Support Fund to offer mental health resources for youth and families affected by the tragedy.

Two lives taken were part of The Rocket Foundation’s extended community. Deshawn Johnson, a youth camper, and Aaron Hines, known as “Coach Ball,” a respected leader with the Offender Alumni Association, were both directly connected to the foundation’s grantee network. Their deaths shook the organizations that have been working on the ground to disrupt cycles of violence.

The Rocket Foundation is working with its grantees, HOPE Hustlers and Offender Alumni Association, to provide trauma-informed therapy support. The fund will help connect impacted children and families with licensed mental health professionals, while also supporting the organizations already doing community violence intervention work every day. These aren’t just partnerships—they’re trusted local leaders offering mentorship, guidance, and frontline care.

The fund is designed to meet immediate mental health needs while creating space for longer-term healing. The impact of gun violence doesn’t stop at the crime scene. It lingers in classrooms, homes, and neighborhoods where grief and fear often go unaddressed. This initiative is about showing up where it counts and making sure support isn’t out of reach for those who need it most.

Founded by Quavo in November 2022 to honor the life and legacy of Takeoff, The Rocket Foundation supports programs saving lives through proven, community-based solutions to prevent gun violence. Since its inception, the organization has partnered with 10 nonprofits and is currently building a nationwide network of community violence intervention organizations to create and share solutions. In 2024, the organization launched its Annual Rocket Summit in partnership with Vice President Kamala Harris and the White House, followed by the 2025 Rocket Summit at the College Football Hall of Fame.
