Tory Lanez Attorneys File Motion To Bail
Tory Lanez’s legal team has reportedly filed a motion to free him while they seek to appeal his 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
According to court reporter Meghann Cuniff, who has been covering the Toronto rapper’s case since its inception, a “bail on appeal” motion was filed on Monday (August 28) in Los Angeles on Lanez’s behalf.

“Ask and ye shall receive: Tory Lanez’s lawyers appear to have filed a motion to bail him out of jail as he appeals his judgment and sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion,” Cuniff tweeted Tuesday. “Regarding actual motion, DA’s office says they weren’t aware anything was filed and haven’t received anything yet, but ‘132 has been dark’ which refers to Judge Herriford’s dept # and means he’s been out. But public docket entry is yesterday, hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.”
The hearing will be in front of Judge David Herriford, who presided over Lanez’s December 2022, during which he was found guilty. Earlier this month, a 10-year sentence was delivered over the July 2020 shooting.
The new filing comes after Cuniff reported that attorney Jose Baez was on vacation recently, implying that he wasn’t fully committed to the rapper’s appeal process.
Baez saw Cuniff’s tweet and responded via his Instagram Story on Sunday (August 27), claiming she has a “bias” against Lanez and has since the trial began. The attorney also claimed that he could not file a motion to appeal until certain legal formalities are completed and that he’s “way ahead of schedule” in the appeal fight.
