The Internet Reacts To Designer Virgil Abloh's $50 Donation To Bail Out Miami Protesters
Fashion designer Virgil Abloh is receiving some serious side-eyes after announcing his donation of $50 towards bailing out Miami protesters.
“The Miami community, I’m inspired,” Virgil wrote on a screenshotted image of his $50 contribution to Fempower on Sunday (May 31). He added, “For kids in the streets that need bail funds for George Floyd protests.”
The CEO of Off-White and Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton menswear went on to announce that he was “matching the local energy,” as he tagged a few other accounts.
Not happy with the low contribution made to assist with the legal expenses of the arrested protesters; social media irrupted with many considering the designer “cheap.”
Not to count anyone’s coins, but according to The Wealth Record, the famed designer is reportedly worth more than $4 million. It also doesn’t seem to help the designer’s case that a pair of socks from the Off-White brand costs $43 on sale.
Although it does not look good in the eyes of many, it is unclear if the designer privately donated more bail funds and legal help to those arrested during the statewide protests for racial justice.
Virgil has yet to release a statement.
