Hoda Kotb Explains Why She Currently Has No Plans To Date After Recently Calling Off Her Engagement!
Hoda Kotb says she's not interested in dating right now after splitting up with her former fiancé Joel Schiffman. Keep scrolling to find out why.
While chatting with the Daily Mail, the Today host revealed that she has no regrets about calling off the engagement earlier this year. "We all make choices that are for us, and I feel strong and I feel good about my decision. I'm just kind of marching on with life," Kotb expressed.
When asked if she was looking for a new partner, the 57-year-old mom explained, “No, I think especially when you have kids, you take a beat [after going through a breakup]. I'm focusing on them.”
Kotb announced the split at the beginning of this year, after being together with Schiffman for eight years. During their relationship, the couple adopted two children together: Hope Catherine (3) and Haley Joy (5).
When first discussing the breakup on the Jan. 31 episode of Hoda & Jenna, Kotb explained, “Joel and I have had a lot of prayers and meaningful conversations over the holidays, and we decided that we are better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple.”
The talk show host later reassured fans that there is no ill will between them. “So we decided that we are going to start this new year and begin it kind of on our new path as loving parents to our adorable, delightful children, and as friends. It's not like something happened. They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason, for a season or for a lifetime, and I feel like ours was meant to be there for a season."
FYI: In 2013, Kotb and Schiffman met at a book signing. The pair began dating soon after getting each other’s contact information from the person operating the event. The former couple made their relationship public in 2015.
