Paris Jackson Breaks Her Silence After ‘Leaving Neverland’ Documentary Controversy

Michael Jackson’s daughter shares her thoughts on the devastating allegations.

HBO's Leaving Neverland documentary has been the talk of social media for some time now. While Michael Jackson's brothers and one of his nephews have spoken out against the film, other members of his immediate family have remained silent until now.

Paris Jackson, daughter of the late singer, addressed the controversy in a series of tweets on Thursday (Mar. 7).

  • With her father's fans in an uproar over the documentary, Paris took a more laid back approach

The 20-year-old wrote, "Y'all take my life more seriously than I do," and jokingly told fans to calm down.

  • She shared a lengthy exchange with one fan who was concerned about the film's impact on Michael Jackson's legacy

The fan tried to convince Paris that the "bigger picture" is her father's "legacy ruined" and his named "smeared forever," but she was unmoved.

Paris had a different opinion on what she should be focusing on. "So... not love and peace and trying to carry that message out? tabloids and lies are the bigger picture? I'll pray for you," she tweeted.

  • The fan continued to share thoughts on how the Jackson family could be affected

When the fan bought up possible boycotts of her father's music, Paris wrote, "yeah they do that to everyone with a good heart and tries to make a difference but do you really think that it's impossible to tear his name down ? like do you truly believe they stand a chance ? relax and have peace."

  • HBO's two-part, four-hour documentary recounted the testimony of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two men who accused the singer of child molestation. Michael Jackson's estate has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the network and released several statements denying accusations made in the film.
