The song was originally written for Jac’s young daughter, but quickly became something that spoke to a larger community especially in the past two years.
The soul singer told Ones to Watch, “It's my remedy to people to be comfortable in your skin… and it's a reminder that even the strongest black Queens and Kings need a theme song against the haters.”
“Saved”
Jac pours in the emotion in this classic gospel-influenced soul record. Similar to his debut single, Jac speaks to motivate his people through song with lyrics like “Everybody's gon' fall down sometimes but I can't stay down long / When that light shines down on my face / I’ll rise from the ground.”
“Questions”
Jac sheds light to the lingering questions we have regarding the current state of the world immersed in turmoil and chaos. The track features a sample from Mary J. Blige’s “I Can Love You” which was also produced by Jac’s mentor Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
