ASCAP Black History Month R&B Performances: J Rome Performs ‘Lift Every Voice And Sing
As Black History Month continues its strong start, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) are stepping in to celebrate the momentous month.
On Tuesday (February 7), ASCAP’s campaign sheds a light on rising R&B artist J Rome, who took his opportunity in the spotlight to sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing" (National Black Anthem).
‘“Lift Every Voice and Sing’ is an anthem for my people and it celebrates our freedom, it celebrates our determination, it celebrates our resilience, and how powerful and how strong we really are,” Rome says in the video prior to his performance. “It’s telling us to sing out loud and to rejoice because we have that capability now, we have that right now, whereas before we didn’t.”
Next Tuesday (February 14), ASCAP’s BHM campaign will continue with another artist. Stay tuned for that!
