BET Awards 2022: 5 Standout Tracks from The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours’
Canada-born singer-songwriter The Weeknd dominated the music industry following the release of his fourth studio album, After Hours. The smash project spawned four promotional singles, three of which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and marked several record-breaking milestones for the 4-time Grammy Awards winner.
Although he was excluded entirely at the 64th Annual Grammys, the star bounced back with a “Best Album” nomination at the BET Awards 2021. Ahead of this year’s BET Awards 2022, hosted by actress Taraji P.Henson on Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, check out five standout tracks from The Weeknd’s “After Hours.”
Heartless
“Heartless” was released as the lead single from the singer-songwriter’s fourth studio album, After Hours. He co-produced the single alongside several talented producers, including BET Awards 2021 nominee Metro Boomin.
After Hours
Serving as writer and producer on this dark and ominous electronic-driven track, The Weeknd opens up with his signature sounds of falsettos and echoes before singing of regret over an ended relationship, all while taking accountability for his contribution that led to their breakup.
Snowchild
The Weeknd brings a familiar topic in this slow tempo single, “Snowchild,” including his quick shot to fame. He also sings about his past vice and battles with substance abuse—a reference seen in the title—and the women he attracted after finding stardom.

Blinding Lights
“Blinding Lights” is one of four supporting singles from After Hours and three that earned the Canadian the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The single is regarded as one of The Weeknd’s most successful songs to date. Despite being stamped as the number one on Billboard’s Greatest Hot 100 Hit of All Time, the album failed to receive any nominations at the 64th annual Grammy Awards sparking anger from fans and The Weeknd.
Save Your Tears
The Canadian star released “Save Your Tears” as his fourth and final single off his critically acclaimed fourth studio effort. This record specifically garnered the singer-songwriter praise for his angelic vocals. The song received a remix featuring Ariana Grande, further propelled its success.
Tune in to the BET Awards 2022 Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET.
