Young Thug Credited Nipsey Hussle For Meek Mill’s Overturned Conviction In A Beautiful Way

This is the first time in Meek’s adult life he is not under probation.

Yesterday was quite a day for Meek Mill. Hours after announcing the launch of his joint record label with Jay-Z, a Pennsylvania court ruled to overturn Meek’s 2008 conviction, concluding the Philly native’s lengthy legal battle for a new trial.

Furthermore, a three-judge panel said it is highly likely Meek will be acquitted of the charges stemming from his drug and gun conviction if there is a retrial, according to the Associated Press.

  • After 11 years and for the first time in his adult life, the Philadelphia rapper is no longer under probation. While Meek’s legal entanglement has turned him into a celebrated advocate for criminal justice reform, he’s been candid about the complications it’s had on his career and life.

As such, it’s a momentous occasion not just for Meek, but for the hip-hop community, which has supported him throughout his unjustly long probation. As soon as the news broke, the community rallied around Meek in celebration of his triumph.

Young Thug saluted Meek’s journey to justice, using the moment to remind the hip-hop community that Nipsey Hussle’s spirit is alive and well.

  • Nipsey was close friends of both Meek and Thugger, and they linked up to collaborate professionally before their brother-in-rhyme’s untimely death.

Thugger shared a photo of Meek on his Instagram, writing in the caption “I KNOW FOR A FACT NIPSEY MADE THIS HAPPEN.”

  • The good news doesn’t stop there, so maybe there is a hip-hop guardian angel looking out to ensure his marathon continues. Meek’s lawyer told TMZ that there’s a good chance prosecutors won’t bother refiling the case due to Judge Genece Brinkley’s bias throughout the case and the fact that the main witness falsely testified.
