Halle Bailey Reflects on Postpartum Emotions and Finding Strength in Motherhood
Halle Bailey is opening up about a deeply personal and often overlooked experience that many women face after giving birth: postpartum challenges.
“The Little Mermaid” star stopped by “The Jennifer Hudson Show” to discuss her debut album, “the ‘love? …or something like it,” and told the host how her pregnancy experience taught her a valuable lesson in having a supportive village.
“When we give birth, we're like, wow, the emotions, the hormones, everything. You realize that you need a strong support system with you,” she explained.
“You need help. You need people to love on you and make sure that you're okay.”
Bailey continued, expressing the importance of speaking on such an issue.
“I just think it's amazing to just be open about it because it can help so many people and make you not feel alone,” she said.
“That's necessary because then they know what's ahead and not surprised by it and know they're not alone.”
In an interview with REVOLT last month, the actress discussed the one thing she loves the most about motherhood.
“The one thing I love most about motherhood is really just being able to watch him grow... It’s really the craziest thing,” she told the outlet.
“He’s speaking and talking now – he says, “Mama” ... He says a bunch of things ... and his favorite is “Thank you.”
She continued, sharing that she’s “grateful” to have a platform to speak about her experience in motherhood, and while it’s beautiful, it’s sometimes hard.
“You kind of feel like you’re a different version of yourself than you were before... It’s really powerful... kind of feels like a caterpillar growing into a butterfly,” she explained.
“Now, I feel like a stronger version of myself.”
