The Patriots Slammed the NYT for Using These Photos to Say Less Players Visited Obama's White House Than Trump's

Here's how many actually showed up.

You can't make this stuff up even if you tried.

Somehow the New England Patriots' visit to the White House yesterday got dragged into the ongoing beef between President Trump and The New York Times. And surprise, surprise, the Patriots joined Trump in bashing the newspaper. Makes sense, considering Patriots owner Bob Kraft, coach Bill Belichick, and quarterback Tom Brady all count Trump as a good friend, despite Brady not showing up yesterday.

But the latest trigger for their friction? After the Patriots visited Trump to be honored for their Super Bowl LI victory, the Times posted a Patriots' team photo with then-President Obama from 2015 and a squad pic with Trump from yesterday, showing the former POTUS with a much larger turnout than The Donald's.

Well, that's all it took for the Patriots to clap back and slam the Times, accusing the newspaper of purposely using a photo that showed a thin squad with Trump when over 40 team staff members were seated on the South Lawn and thus weren't shown.

The Times clapped back with a rebuttal of its own and of course Trump exercised his Twitter fingers and had to interject.

In total, for the record, 34 players made the trip to Trump's White House yesterday in comparison to 50 at Obama's White House in 2015. Nevertheless, here's how the Patriots joined the Trump-NY Times beef.

  • Here's The New York Times' 2015-2017 Patriots' White House Photo That Sparked the Drama

Big difference ... but the Patriots weren't amused.

  • And the official Twitter account of the Super Bowl champs clapped back

    That would explain the difference.

  • An Hour later, the Patriots added a 'comparable photo'

    The Pats were clearly irked.

  • The Times Came Right Back and Responded With ...

    Hold that, champs!

  • Of course, Petty POTUS Trump couldn't resist chiming in

"Failing @nytimes" ... we feel like he says this every week.

  • For the record, here's a full list of the Patriots' players who boycotted the Trump White House visit

So, in other words, if the Patriots want to attack the Times for the picture it used, OK. But the reality is many players didn't want to be in the presence of Trump. And that's a #FACT.
