Tyler, the Creator Talks Jerrod Carmichael, Album Titles, and His Past Rap Duo

Off of a 77 stop tour, Tyler, the Creator Stopped by Ebro in the Morning and got into music, his 9pm bedtime, and title of his No. 1 album "Don't Tap the Glass."

Tyler, the Creator stopped by Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97 and reflected on his album ‘Don't Tap the Glass’, which debuted at No 1. on the Billboard 200, and he chopped it up about his appearance on the Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show.

The Grammy Award winning rapper had this to say about the title of the album: “‘Don’t Tap The Glass’ was actually a name that I had for the duo for me and Flaco, but it never, it never got used. So, I thought it would be sick. Like, if we were called ‘Don't Tap the Glass’. Like, that's hard.”

“Like, you know, when you at the zoo or whatever and like, ‘No, don't f*** with the G.’ Like, I thought that would be super cool. Uh, but we didn't end up doing that. And I just always had that title in the tuck. And I always just loved it.”

“And when I started working on this, I was like, ‘Oh my god, this feels like right.’ Cuz it's aggressive.”

Tyler, The Creator  also reflected on his appearance on the Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, he recalled being nervous when Jerrod Carmichael expressed romantic feelings for him.

“That was one of them times where I’m uncomfortable,” Tyler recalled. “I was in that b**** sweating. I didn’t know what to do.”

Tyler shared that he knew Carmichael but that he didn’t think it would go down the way it did.

“I’m like cool, it won’t be crazy,” he said. “I know this n***a. Like, it won’t be uncomfortable. I know bro. And then it was a little heavier than I thought it would be. I didn’t know what the f*** to do.”

“I wasn’t as nervous then as I was in that motherf***** room with them cameras,” he shared, laughing.

Although Tyler did not reciprocate the feelings, Carmichael and Tyler remain friends, according to Complex.

“He knows I’m crazy, so he’s kinda down,” Carmichael said of Tyler, adding that he was “happy that [Tyler] did it” and “very thankful.”
