Don't even try to blame Gloria Govan for Derek Fisher being fired as head coach of the New York Knicks last month.

She's not having it.

Although the couple has been publicly boo'd up, including the Meet the Blacks premiere Tuesday night in Hollywood, she doesn't think being caught in the middle of her ex Matt Barnes's attack on Fisher last October led to him being axed as Knicks coach.

“I don’t think so. I don’t think so at all,” she told Hip Hollywood on the red carpet Tuesday night. “I mean, I hope not, better not be.

“Honestly, [Fisher] called me the morning when he did get let go and he was like it [the conversation with Knicks president Phil Jackson] was short and it was simple,” Govan continued. “You know, I feel like he had a feeling because they were on a five-game losing streak. And it’s really just a business. I think people forget, it’s not anything personal. Him and Phil are still friends.”

While we don't know if the Barnes-Fisher altercation had anything to do with Fisher's firing, the Knicks are turning in another dreadful season, so their performance has to do a lot with the move. There's no doubt about that.

Regardless, Govan still has to deal with Barnes and his unfriendly dynamic with Fisher. After all, Govan shares two boys with Barnes, who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies.

“It takes a lot of patience, and again, I really have to pull a lot of my strength from my relationship with God. It really takes a lot,” she continued telling Hip Hollywood. “Every time I look at them [her boys], I never want to be responsible for them not having a relationship with their dad… because that has nothing to do with me. And I could easily make it about me, but I don’t have time for that."

She added: “Derek is really supportive. Him and the kids get a long really well. He obviously helps with that entire situation.”

Let's hope there's no Barnes-Fisher WrestleMania part II.
