Sip on This: Top 10 Tequila Bars Around the US

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in good spirits.

May 5 is Cinco de Mayo, a celebration of Mexico's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. This day is also about celebrating the Mexican culture, food, and our favorite, tequila. Not sure where to go this year to join in the festivities? Here are our top 10 faves in a city near you.

1. Mayahuel, New York

Nestled in the East Village, Mayahuel gives you the feel of a Mexican speakeasy with some of the most creative cocktails in the game.
Translation: Their tequila drinks aren’t just for margaritas. Their bartenders totally think outside the box here. Try: Black Star

2. Masa Azul, Chicago

This Logan Square gem may be small in size, but it's huge on taste and selection. They offer more than 50 brands of tequila to try and have tons of great little bites to nibble on, too. Try: Heart of the Dead.
3. El Carmen, Los Angeles

If you like dive bars, you’ll love this West Hollywood spot with its vintage décor, old school Mexican wresting pics and its infamous red light tunnel. Their 100-plus tequila list will have your mouth watering for more. Try: Cilantro Ginger Margarita.

4. La Condesa, Austin, TX

Known for its stunning wooden crafted bar stocked with 80-plus brands, Downtown Austin’s La Condesa is a perfect place to spend the afternoon sipping on cocktails and catching up with friends. Plus, they have some rare tequilas on deck that are hard to find anywhere else. Try: Spicy Paloma

5. Cantina Dos Segundos, Philadephia

This spot in the City of Brotherly Love is another bar that boasts more than 100 tequila options for those connoisseurs. Plus, they offer tequila flights for those who crave variety and can't commit. Try: El Corozon (The Sweetheart) Margarita.

6. El Centro D.F., Washington, D.C.

This joint off D.C.'s 14th Street has some 200 tequilas and mezcals for you to sample. And you can enjoy your spirits with a breathtaking view on one of their two open-air rooftops. Try: Organic Chichicapa Mezcal (exotic fruit, guava, mint)

7. Barrio, Minneapolis

This might be the mother of all tequilas bars as Barrio offers an eclectic mix of flights to suit any taste. We're talking special edition reserves, mezcals, aged añejo, and more. Not to mention, for those who are hungry, they have $10 dinner specials, too. Try: Their Flights.

8. El Gato Negro, New Orleans

"The Black Cat" has three locations in NOLA, including one in the historic French Quarter, so there's no reason to miss out. They're also favored for their signature margaritas. Try: Pineapple Cadillac Cruz Margarita

9. The Pastry War, Houston

Pop into H-Town's Fourth Ward and experience something truly special. The agave spirits served here are from family-owned distilleries still running today in Mexico. Fun fact: The restaurant gets its name from the 1838 conflict between Mexico and France. Try: Green Iguana Margarita

10. BODEGA South Beach, Miami

You're in South Beach, better live it up! Clink glasses with all the beautiful people and sip on some innovative craft tequila cocktails. On May 5, they're throwing a huge party with Lucha Libre performers, a DJ, photo booth, and, of course, drink specials. Try: Smoked Horchata Shot
