Three 6 Mafia Prepping Reunion Album Minus Juicy J

DJ Paul says it's not quite a reunion, but a new group altogether.

Not having Juicy J on board isn't stopping Three 6 Mafia from getting back together and dropping a new album, but they are changing the name. Now going by Da Mafia 6ix, the Oscar-winning Memphis rap collective is moving forward with the long-rumored reunion album.

While the new album may be a dream come true for Three Six fans who've been waiting for the crew to hug it out, DJ Paul, who spearheaded the project, tweeted on June 6 that it's not quite a reunion album, due to the absence of a founding member. "We can’t consider it a Three Six Mafia reunion without all the members being in it so we’ll just say that it’s a reunion of members of the Mafia that created a totally new group called Da Mafia 6ix."

Gangsta Boo told that she'd be on board, along with Crunchy Blak, Koopsta Knicca and Lord Infamous. The album will be self-titled.

As for Paul's longtime co-pilot, Juicy won't consider a return unless the money is right. "When Columbia Records sit us down and cut the check, it's going down," he told DJ Big Bink in an interview.

Budget aside, the 38-year-old might take issue over reuniting with Gangsta Boo. Last month, she spoke on their rift, accusing Juicy of using a ghostwriter for his "Bandz a Make Her Dance" smash. The two have been beefing for years, but Juicy's been too preoccupied with his solo career to fire back at the latest allegations. Now signed to Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang imprint, Juicy's currently out on the Stay Trippy tour, and plans to drop an accompanying solo album sometime this year.
No date has been announced for Da Mafia 6ix, which will be released under Paul's Scale-A-Ton Entertainment.
